Las Vegas 2012
Roger and Linda's trip Diary to and from Las Vegas, January 21- 26, 2012

01/21/12 Left Salt Lake about 7:30am and drove through intermittent rain, snow, and high winds to Las Vegas checking into Sams Town RV Park. I was dead tired after this 420 mile trip and went to bed right after dinner.

01/22/12 We had champagne brunch at Sams Town Casino this morning. The omelet bar chefs made great omelets. Linda gambled on the slots and won a bit while I did computing at the trailer. When Linda got back we took Meghan to Bark Dog Park in Henderson. There were lots of dogs here at this really well designed park. Two big Dobermans really gave Meghan a workout. We then came home and watched the NFL playoff games on HD TV in the trailer. Joanne and David arrived around 5:15pm. We went to dinner at Sams Town having the excellent an special of steak and lobster special for $14. Yum Yum

01/23/12 We had breakfast at Sam's Town Buffet and then I drove to Treasure Island attempting to get Cirque Du Soleil Mystere tickets, but the show room was closed for renovation. We then walked to Caesars Palace and walked through their famous shopping arcade. Had lunch at Caesars and then drove to Planet Hollywood to pick up Beatle show tickets. Returned to trailer and slept a couple hours before having dinner at the Sams Town dinner buffet.

01/24/12 We all ate at the buffet again for breakfast. Joanne and I took Meghan for a walk at a local dog park near Sams Town. The girls did some shopping at Walmart. Around mid afternoon we drove to the Venetian Hotel and did the Gondola ride with opera singing boatman. We then walked the huge hotel taking in the Chinese Dragon decoration which was very impressive. At 5:00pm we went to Mario Batalia's restaurant call B & B at the Venetian. Most of our dishes were great except my shrimp pasta main course. Joannes Veal Chop was to die for. Our beet salad was outstanding. The lobster pasta was very good and the deserts were to die for especially the Vanilla Soufflé. After dinner we walked across the street to view the Treasure Island Pirate show and then next door to the Mirage for the Volcano eruption show. Talk about energy going up in flame! Next we drove home to Sams Town in Henderson and crashed early

01/25/12 After having the buffet breakfast we drove out to the Hoover Dam and did the two dam tours. Returned home and rested a couple of hours. We then went to the Beatles show at Planet Hollywood Casino. Joanne got the bargain tickets from GroupOn for $20 each an incredible bargain. The show was well worth seeing with some very talented performers, perhaps as good as the original Beatles. We then drove back to Sams Town and ate at TGIF in the casino. We then toured the Casino Western store called Sheplers. David and I both purchased a mens crushable felt hat. David and Linda then decided to visit the Bingo Parlor and play 8 cards at a time. I watched a few minutes and then retired to bed.

01/26/12 Linda and I had breakfast at the Dunkin Donut shop in the Casino and were on the road at 8:00am. We drove to Parker Arizona and checked into the Arizona Buckskin State Park. It was a picturesque park right on the Colorado River with power, water, and dump station which was remote from the site. I got the 5th wheel all set up and mixed up a pot roast all in one dish for dinner. Joanne and Dave arrived a bit later in the afternoon setting up their giant tent behind our trailer. While they were doing this we went to visit our friends who were camping in the Island SP about 3 miles away. We had a nice cocktail hour time with Scarlet & Joe Willingham, Stan & Joy Rey Gienger, Sam & Beverly Sharp, Mike & his wife. Returned to our trailer and had our pot roast dinner.
